Textbook Returns
This returns policy applies only to Textbooks & Courseware.
Sales Receipt: Always save the sales receipt! We are not obligated to accept a return without the original sales receipt.
Photo ID: Your Photo ID, preferably your PolyCard, is truly required for your protection.
Returnable: With the original sales receipt and during the established returns period, you may return textbooks and other courseware items in original resaleable condition. The established returns period for each academic term is stated on a bookmark stapled to the sales receipt, posted in the bookstore, and posted at this website.
Original Resaleable Condition: If you purchase a textbook (or other courseware item) as NEW, you must return the item in its original resaleable condition. If not in that condition, we accept the return of a NEW item as a USED item at our discretion. If you purchase the item as USED, you must return it in resaleable condition. We accept the return of an unpackaged or unwrapped item at our discretion. An item is still unpackaged or unwrapped if re-packaged or re-wrapped.
Reservation Returns: Reservations have the same returns privilege as in-store purchases of textbooks and other courseware. We need the original sales invoice, picklist, and your Photo ID. If you cannot find the sales invoice, please contact Customer Service before you attempt a return.
Defective Merchandise: If defective, we exchange textbooks and other courseware within a reasonable period of time after the purchase. We require the original sales receipt and your Photo ID. If you cannot find the sales receipt, please contact Customer Service before you attempt a return.
Method of Refund: We refund the same way you paid. If you paid with a credit card, for example, we credit the refund to the same credit card account. If we cannot credit that account, we offer you store credit in the form of a Cal Poly Gift Card. If a purchase is ineligible for a refund, we might accept its return for store credit in the form of a Cal Poly Gift Card.
Catalog Store Purchases (Internet, Phone, & Mail Orders): Purchases from the Catalog Store may be returned to the Catalog Store (on-line) or at El Corral Bookstore (in-store). We refund shipping & handling fees at our discretion. To return on-line, contact the Catalog Store for instructions. On-line returns do not require the sales receipt or your Photo ID. The Catalog Store may extend the deadline for the on-line return of an on-line purchase. To return in-store during the limited returns period, be sure to bring the original sales receipt and your Photo ID.
